Want An Accent Wall? How To Achieve The Right Look

Accent walls are a way to make a wall in the room pop. They should be visually cohesive, without appearing too wild in the room in which it is located. It should fit with the rest of your decor and the colors you choose for your accent wall should flow together. You can accent a wall with a different color of paint, with a design, with a different paint finish, or you can add an accent wall using textures. Choose Your Accent Wall Wisely

Don't overwhelm the room by using the biggest wall in the room for your accent. If your room has one large expansive space that you want to use, don't overwhelm the space with a lot of geometric designs, keep it simple on that expansive wall. If you can, choose a smaller space on your wall so it isn't too overwhelming for the space but still provides an accent that you wanted. Also, only put the design on one wall, not all of the walls, as this can be overwhelming as well.

Choose The Right Colors

Choose the right color scheme for your accent wall and other walls. If you want to do a bold black wall, be sure you aren't using too much more black in the room so you aren't making the room appear too dark. If you are using a black accent wall, be sure to use white or a light color on the other walls. If you want to use a dark color, you should make the rest of the walls a little lighter so you don't make the space feel too dim and dark. Choose your color scheme based on your decor, but if you go with a more neutral color scheme, you'll be able to change your decor without having to change your paint.

Don't Over-Texture

If you already have texture on your ceiling, you may not want to do much texture on your walls. If you have a popcorn ceiling, for instance, adding a wall with a similar texture may be too much. The same goes with adding texture to your walls, don't go overboard with texturing all of your walls. There is such a thing as too much.
